Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi on Friday expressed his disgust for a school principal who was caught for having sex with learners at his school.

The now former principal of Reiger Park High School in Boksburg, was seen in disturbing videos and pictures which circulated on social media.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Gauteng department of education said the principal has since resigned from his post after he was caught in a compromising position with learners in his office.

“Our enquiry revealed that, the said principal resigned in October 2017, and as such his last day was 15 January 2018,” said Lesufi.

Lesufi said even if the principal may no longer be an employee, a case will be open against him with the South African Council of Educators (SACE).

“We will report him to the South African Council of Educators (SACE) to be struck off the roll with immediate effect,” he said.

He also said a team of counsellors will be deployed to the school on Monday, to provide the necessary support to all the affected learners.

“We appeal with learners, educators and parents to cooperate with all officials sent to the school for the necessary intervention into this matter,” said Lesufi.

The department has condemned any acts of sexual assault in schools and urges learners to report a matter where they feel victimised.
